Lexus wants you to get lit with LED-equipped IS sedan
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, it’s not for sale
Lexus is doing all sorts of weird things to get publicity for its 2017 IS sedan. First we got the Sriracha IS at the LA Auto Show and now this LIT version, featuring 41,999 programmable LED lights spread across the sheetmetal. We’re not sure why the company didn’t hit a nice, round 42,000, but that’s beside the point.
The LIT IS is a collaboration between Lexus and music video company Vevo, and the song is called “Be the One” from UK artist Dua Lipa.
The LEDs can broadcast graphics, words and crazy animations, which can also bounce to the music if requested. In the video a man uses gestures to make changes as well, which could be a cool feature if available on the highway, at night. But it won’t be, because this car isn’t for sale. We’re pretty sure it would be considered a distraction. Perhaps Lexus is building a hall of fame for its one-offs, which is something we’d like to see.
